Brief History of Koinonia College of Theology

Established in 2004, Koinonia College of Theology was the fulfillment of Bishop Dr. Rev. Joseph Hiwale’s 40-year vision to train effective ministers for the Great Commission. Under the leadership of its President, Pastor Benjamin Hiwale, the college began in a rented building in Nigdi, Pune, initially offering a Diploma in Theology. Over the years, the institution expanded its academic reach by introducing a three-year Bachelor of Theology degree in 2011 and moving to a dedicated new building during the 2014–2015 academic year. To date, Koinonia has graduated more than 150+ students who are actively fulfilling the school’s mission to handle the word of God rightly. These alumni are now making a significant impact across the globe, with many shepherding churches, teaching in theological colleges, or serving in various Christian organizations.
